Now
During my over thirty years as a child psychologist in private practice, I began writing books for children and teens on subjects related to emotions and behavior. The books allowed me to extend my work beyond the office. Now, I am writing full time. In 2022 and 2023, I was accepted into the PJ Library Picture Book Camp at the Highlights Foundation. I added board books and picture books with Jewish content to my body of work. With memberships in SCBWI, 12 x 12 Picture Book Challenge, Inked Voices, and Rate Your Story, I continue to grow my writing for young children into new areas.
Whether writing psychology-related books, books with Jewish content, or other children’s stories, I think the narratives we create for ourselves and others are formative and have a deep impact on our lives. I believe in the power of words to do good in the world and create joy.
When I’m not reading or writing, I’m completing crossword puzzles, spending time with friends and family, volunteering in the community, or swimming. I live in Baltimore, Maryland with my husband of many decades. We have two grown children.
Then
I was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in the Maryland suburbs. My two brothers and I spent a lot of time outside with the neighborhood children riding bikes, playing tetherball, and creating make-believe scenarios.
I also loved school. With great pride, I attended Johns Hopkins University, the alma mater of my grandfather and uncle. I went on to Indiana University for a master’s degree and University of Maryland for my doctorate.
